ConnCAT is a non-profit organization that is modeled after Pittsburgh's Manchester Bidwell Corporation, an internationally recognized arts and education center founded by Bill Strickland. It is an independent organization and an affiliate of Manchester Bidwell's National Center for Arts and Technology.

After pioneering Russian aviation and creating many world firsts, Igor Sikorsky fled the Bolshevik revolution finally arriving in New York a penniless immigrant. While his contemporaries struggled in the new Soviet Union, Sikorsky once again built aircraft, this time in an abandoned chicken coop. He helped pioneer transatlantic flight with Charles Lindbergh and his S.42 flying boat, proving the potential for passenger service. He fought through frustration and failure to eventually fulfill his boyhood dream of vertical flight, and it was his unparalleled dedication and success in this field that would earn him the title: "Father of the Modern Helicopter".
